Being a child...
… means to fight in many battles which seem to be unimportant for grown-ups. Problems caused by puberty, self-finding, making many experiences, making faults and achieving successes, the need to find ones place in the world and community, learning about the world, oneself, ones talents, possibilities and limits. It means to grow up under the pressure of the future and the performance-orientated world and to know that you have to assert oneself in order to survive.
world as a whole a better place, but we change the lives of at least 56 humans. This may change a lot in their futures and through that also in their child’s and grandchild’s futures. The money we invest to care about them isn’t only used to house, feed and clothe “some children” but it is invested in the future.
Being a child at the Orphanage Home
Beside from sleeping and eating, the kids live, play and laugh here this makes the ABOH not only to a place to stay but to their home.
All of the day during the week have a similar structure: regular meals, school until the afternoon (depending from day and grade), and in the evenings there is time for studies, free time and everything else. For the weekends the children are divided into different groups which care for the animals, the surrounding, the meals, the laundry and many other sectors. These tasks teach them how to be responsible for their own lives and needs.
As the Orphanage Home is a Christian organization, the church plays an important role in their everyday lives. Everyone goes to church two to three times per week, and each day, the children pray, sing and read small passages out of the bible.
We are proud of the fact that we enable many things which aren’t self-evident. Our children get high-quality education, regular meals, health care, fresh water and, what is very important, time to be a child. Many children in countries, which are as poor as Lesotho, don’t have the time to play, get educated or have free time with friends. Many of them have to grow up very fast, to run families, look after their siblings and to earn their own money or food.
Nobody is able to change the situation for every wrong-treated child, but everyone has the opportunity to improve the lives of individuals. We don’t make the world as a whole a better place, but we change the lives of at least 56 humans. This may change a lot in their futures and through that also in their child’s and grandchild’s futures. The money we invest to care about them isn’t only used to house, feed and clothe “some children” but it is invested in the future.
